Commissioned Paintings
HOW IT WORKS
1. Choose Your Frame Size
You provide the frame size you want the final painting to live in. This helps shape the scale, proportion, and physical presence of the work.
2. Select Your Paint Colors
You choose the primary colors you would like included in the piece. These may be connected to a room, a memory, a mood, a person, or simply colors you feel drawn to.
3. Choose a Song
You provide one song that will guide the creation process. The music becomes part of the painting's score. I listen, respond, move, layer, and build the work through the energy of that sound.
What You Receive
Each commissioned painting includes:
An original painting created specifically for you
Video footage of the creation process
A final image of the completed painting
A work that holds your chosen size, colors, and song as part of its creative foundation
The Process
After I receive your commission request, I will review the details and follow up to confirm the size, colors, song, timeline, and overall direction.
Once the commission is confirmed, I begin the painting process. The work is created through a layered approach that brings together visual art, music, movement, and embodied response.
Your final painting will be delivered with video footage from the creation process, giving you a glimpse into how the piece came to life.
Before You Request a Commission
Please be ready to provide:

Your preferred paint colors
The song you would like me to work from
Any important notes about where the piece will live or who it is for
A commissioned painting is a way to turn a song, a color story, and a personal frame into a one-of-a-kind visual work.
Each piece begins with what you bring to the process: the frame size, the paint colors, and the song. From there, I create an original painting that responds to the sound, movement, rhythm, texture, and feeling of the music.
This is not a reproduction or a pre-designed piece. Each commission is created in real time through an intuitive, movement-based painting process.“I commissioned treading t’word with Robert Glasper’s “In Tune” as the foundation, and L.D. translated the feeling of the song beautifully. I asked for black and red as the primary colors, with hints of blue and brown, and the finished piece feels soulful, grounded, and full of movement. Seeing the creation process made the artwork feel even more personal, like the music, colors, and emotion were all being brought to life in real time.”
